Tip: Most of the security attacks for VoIP come from the inside of your network. Make sure that nobody can listen to your phone calls.

Reducing CO2 emissions is something that concerns us all. How can we reduce the emissions? Saving must not only come from manufacturers that build devices which emit CO2; helping to avoid emissions is even more efficient. In other words: Using a car with higher mileage per gallon is good, but avoiding unnecessary rides or sharing the car is better.

We help companies to reduce emissions by avoiding unnecessary activities and using resources more efficiently:

  • Support to work from home. A large portion of the traffic comes from commuting between home and the office. Employees that work from home can stay connected to the office traffic by having exactly the same behavior like in the office. Many of the PBX features make that possible. For example, you can pick up calls from other extensions as if they were in the next office. And making hot desking a feature that works across locations makes it also possible to work from home. If you are able to switch desks in the office, then you are also able to pick the desk which happens to be located at home. Needless to say this can also be a great time saver.
  • Support for server sharing. A server that runs around the clock usually consumes around two tons of CO2 per year. Other supplementary devices like switches, backup power and cooling can easily double that figure. Our customers can run the PBX as service together with other services on the same hardware. Our PBX can coexist with other non-real time tasks like file serving, email or accounting software.
  • In hosted environments hundreds of clients can run on the same hardware using domain partitioning. There is no need to have several IP addresses or run the server in virtual machines. There is no need to run a server in every office. The environmental savings compared to customer-premises run equipment are enormous.
  • Offering low-power devices. Our appliance is a “cold” device. Compared to server-based solutions, the power consumption of the appliance is more than ten times more efficient. The fact that is has no moving parts has the nice side effect that there is no need to run the device in a separate server room. This saves a lot of energy for heating in winter and cooling in summer.

Lower emissions also mean lower energy costs. This also contributes to a better profitability of businesses running modern communication equipment. Take a pencil and estimate your saving. You might realize investing in a modern SIP-PBX is not only good to save the environment; it also helps to increase your profitability.
