Templates are good if you want to have a working configuration quickly. They are just back-ups of configurations from other systems that you can 'restore' into your system. These configurations will overwrite all your current settings, so be careful doing this when you already have set something up. The best way to do this is to make a backup of your configuration before loading a template into your system!
