pbxnsip checks into hotels worldwide
pbxnsip have the 'Know How'; that's why we have announced our ability to integrate our software with Comtrol's Lodging Link.
Version 3 of pbxnsip is able to talk directly with Comtrol's Lodging Link product. Comtrol developed the Universal Hospitality Language Layer (UHLL) message language and is now the industry standard platform that enables communication between Property Management Systems (PMS) and Guest Service System (GSS) devices, such as a PBX. By supporting UHLL, pbxnsip can interface with a large number of PMS systems in hotels and motels around the world.
Did you know? - Comtrol technology now integrates over 510 Hotel System Devices! - this means there is a huge market and opportunities for pbxnsip in the hotel and hospitality industry.

Easy 'Know How'
Questions you are too afraid to ask!
Learn some Easy 'Know How'
What is TLS?
Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a protocol that is used for establishing a secure connection between a client and a server. In this case the client is your phone and the server is the PBX.
What is a Log level?
Information displayed under Log level 9 is everything that is going on with the server. Log level 0 will only report important trace. Log Level 9 should only be switched on whilst you capture the trace, on a busy system this could slow things down.
What is Loopback Protection?
With SIP, the number you call is actually sent with the domain information included (just like email). Sometimes this can cause the call to come back into the domain and therefore create a loop. Loops can come round many hundreds of time in 1 second.
What is an SBC?
Session Border Controller (SBC) is a device or application that governs the manner in which calls, also called sessions, are initiated, conducted and terminated in a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) network.

Technical 'Know How'
Some technical questions
Bandwidth - 'Know How' -
You need approximately 90kbps per call for a G711 codec call. The G729 codec uses about a quarter of this bandwidth.
Starting pbxnsip - 'Know How' -
pbxnsip when installed on Windows uses a service. A service is a way to stop and start a program that runs in the background. You can find the services section in Administrators Tools which is inside the Control Panel.
Extension Numbering - 'Know How' -
Many people start their extension with 100 or 200. You may want to use higher numbers because you will run into problems when using an Auto Attendant that has options 1 and 2. You will not be able to dial extensions starting with 1 or 2 from the auto attendant, as the match will always take place on 1 or 2.
TEL: Alias - 'Know How'
Your inbound DID/DDI should be mapped to a TEL:alias. If a trunk is set to 'Global', it is visible in all dial plans, therefore the inbound call will match a TEL:alias in other domains.

YSL takes on the streets with pbxnsip and Microsoft
YSL - a pbxnsip distribution partner in South Africa leverages pbxnsip for unified communications solution.
With the growing demand from a new generation of consumers for the ultimate in communications convenience, South African ICT innovator YSL Group has integrated pbxnsip technology into its solutions for unified communications in residential estates.
Particularly in its urban areas, many South Africans choose to live in gated communities. With many accustomed to a high standard of living, these residential estates are designed to deliver convenience and quality of life. Among the many services considered essential for their operation is high-speed internet access and the services which enhance the value of raw connectivity.
Internet connectivity has rapidly progressed from a fringe service used by the few and the privileged, to a point where for many people and especially 'Generation Y' individuals, it is as essential as lights and water.
Louis Yssel CEO of YSL Group explains that it is Microsoft-based, fully hosted Unified Communications solution for new residential complexes incorporating pbxnsip which plays a key role in enabling the integration of telephony with the Microsoft email, calendaring and instant messenger functions. "Our solution is based on providing the user with access to a full communications suite which includes email, fax, telephony, SMS, and internet access, from a single Ethernet port. One piece of reticulation delivers every conceivable Internet based service," he says.
